Change the world, Girl Scout
Gold Award Girl Scouts are rock stars, role models, and real-life heroes. How do they do it? By using everything they’ve learned as a Girl Scout to solve a problem in their community or make a lasting change in their world.
Seniors and Ambassadors who want to go for the Gold Award build a team of trusted adults, peers, and leaders in their community to guide them through challenges and support their success.
Plus? Nothing beats that feeling of seeing real, lasting, and sustainable change and knowing it was you who made it happen. It changes the way you see your place in the world—and how the world sees you.
You can become a Gold Award Girl Scout if you:
- Are in ninth, tenth, eleventh, or twelfth grade
- Are a registered Girl Scout Senior or Ambassador
- Have completed the Silver Award, a Senior/Ambassador Leadership Award, or a Senior/Ambassador Journey
Gold Award Training:
The first step toward earning the Gold Award is to take the Gold Award Training course. Complete the Gold Award Training Request Form to let our council know that you want to take the training so you can access the course. A couple of notes about the training:
- Training is a one-hour eLearning course in gsLearn (the Learning Management System for Girl Scouts). Council staff will create an account for you after you submit the Gold Award Training Request Form.
- Please allow at least one week after submitting the form for your gsLearn account to be created.
You must complete this training before creating a Go Gold account and starting on your Gold Award.
Gold Award training for adult volunteers:
All Gold Award Mentors and anyone who wants to host a Gold Award Workshop must complete Gold Award Certification. It is optional for everyone else, but it is highly recommended for troop leaders or volunteers working with Girl Scouts pursuing the Gold Award. To complete Gold Award Certification:
- Log into your gsLearn account
- Search for “512 Highest Awards” in the Content Library
- Select the Learning Path, then complete the two Gold Award courses, including the agreement form linked in the second course.

How to earn the Girl Scout Gold Award
- Check out the Quick Start Guide for a summary of the process
- Submit the Gold Award Training Request Form
- Complete the Gold Award Training course
- Find an issue in your community and learn everything you can about it through research and trusted sources
- Form a team by identifying experts and people in your community who could help you
- Think about the root cause of an issue, then make a plan of how you could tackle it
- Submit your project proposal through GoGold Online and present it to the Gold Award Committee.
- Once your proposal is approved, lead your team and carry out your plan
- Submit your Final Report through GoGold Online and present it to the Gold Award Committee
- Reflect on the change you’ve created, share your story, and inspire others to make a difference too
