Space Camp with an optional live Space Station contact opportunity to ask questions to an astronaut! Yes, you read that correctly! ARISS, a group that puts together special amateur radio contacts between students around the globe and crew members on the International Space Station (ISS), has partnered with the Eaton Library and invited Girl Scouts to join in on the fun.

This camp is for all ages and will cover the Night Sky Badge (Senior), Space Science Researcher (all levels), and a Radio and Wireless Technology Patch.

The camp is held in three parts and lunch/snack provided:

  • June 6-10: Badge/Patch activities and contact with Space Station practice
  • June 13-17: Rehearsal for contact and more practice (optional for Girl Scouts that want to contact the space station)
  • June 20-26: Contact with Space Station (the exact date and time are not available yet)

For Girl Scouts wishing to be a part of contacting the Space Station, three VIRTUAL meetings before camp to review expectations, answer questions, and prepare questions for the astronaut: April 13, April 20, and May 4 from 6-7 p.m.

Full details can be found here:
