Girl Scouts of Colorado and U.S. Bank have collaborated to create the first bilingual patch program for Girl Scouts in Colorado with the goal of reaching Spanish-speaking communities and getting girls excited about being entrepreneurs. Two patch workshops are Saturday, Jan. 27, -- one at the Girl Scout DreamLab, (63 N. Quebec St., Denver) from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and another in Colorado Springs.
Spending habits are set at a young age, money-making can start early too! This financial-focused workshop will teach kids how to turn their talents into income. Budding entrepreneurs will discover how to set goals and create their own money-making business or event.
“Opportunities likes this help set young Girl Scouts and other community members on the path to mastering their money-making skills at an early age,” says Girl Scouts of Colorado CEO Leanna Clark. “We’re excited to work with U.S. Bank and offer this patch program in Spanish and English. We also want the Spanish-speaking community to see what their girls can gain through Girl Scouts.”
At Denver’s DreamLab, U.S. Bank employees will lead more than 100 kids through five stations to get their creative juices flowing about how to earn money. They’ll be ready to execute their ideas and they’ll get to paint and decorate a ceramic piggy bank to take home to track their earnings. Each participant will receive a free patch designed by artist and small business owner, Xencs Jiménez.
“U.S. Bank is proud to team up with Girl Scouts of Colorado for a first-ever bilingual financial education patch program,” said Marcia Romero, vice president, community development and relations for Colorado and New Mexico at U.S. Bank. “Collaborating with Xencs Jiménez, our community friend and a talented artist, has been empowering and uplifting. Continuing the U.S. Bank Access Commitment™ goal of ensuring everyone has access to the tools, resources, and networks to allow our communities to thrive, this program paves the way for the next generation of women entrepreneurs and leaders through access to financial education.”
We Are Girl Scouts
Girl Scouts bring their dreams to life and work together to build a better world. Through programs from coast to coast, Girl Scouts of all backgrounds and abilities can be unapologetically themselves as they discover their strengths and rise to meet new challenges—whether they want to climb to the top of a tree or the top of their class, lace up their boots for a hike or advocate for climate justice, or make their first best friends. Backed by trusted adult volunteers, mentors, and millions of alums, Girl Scouts lead the way as they find their voices and make changes that affect the issues most important to them.
