Girl Scouts take over CSU Spur for Kindness Day

“Cultivating Kindness” for plants, animals, water, and one another

This Saturday’s sold-out event at CSU Spur (4777 National Western Dr.) will teach Girl Scouts how kindness can make a powerful impact, from supporting healthy ecosystems to building meaningful relationships.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Oct. 24, CSU Spur employees and volunteers will guide Girl Scouts through hands-on activities designed to showcase how they can be a friend to the natural world. Girl Scouts of all ages will:

Step into the role of a veterinarian during a mock clinic using real-world case studies.
Practice basic veterinary techniques, including different types of stitches used to help animals heal.
Create homemade treats for horses that participate in equine-assisted services.
Make seed balls with native Colorado flowers to support pollinators.
Learn how to protect aquatic ecosystems and keep fish populations healthy.
Explore future careers and discover how they can make a difference in the lives of others.

“When young people connect with nature, they develop a sense of empathy and responsibility that extends far beyond the outdoors,” said CEO of Girl Scouts of Colorado Dr. Amanda Kelly. “Learning to care for our plants, animals, and water teaches girls how interconnected our world is and helps them show kindness in everything they do.”
