At the Climb Up to Cadettes event on Saturday, April 27, from 2 to 5 p.m., at CityROCK (21 N Nevada Ave., Colorado Springs), more than 60 fifth grade girls will climb, boulder, and practice yoga, along with other mindfulness activities. The program is designed to help girls discover more about themselves, their boundaries, and how to support their mental well-being. Girls today face unique and daunting challenges that can have dire consequences on their mental, social, and physical development. A recent national study revealed the most pressing issues girls in the United States are facing today: anxiety and mental health came out on top. Girl Scouts of Colorado has focused on developing programming to helps girls cope and work through mental health concerns by sharing mental health tips, resources, workshops, and other engagements for volunteers, Girl Scouts, and families.
“Girl Scouts is uniquely equipped to address these challenges,” says Girl Scouts of Colorado CEO Leanna Clark. “The organization has a long legacy of caring for the health and stewardship of our resources. Girl Scouts equips girls with critical skills and leadership opportunities as well as building community, and advocating for diversity, equity, inclusion, and access.”
Troop leaders are also invited to register and attend the Cadette Leadership Training that will also be held at CityROCK during this event to learn how to be strong mentors and positive role models for their troop members.
