Girl Scout Juniors and Brownies explore the beauty of nature as they become natural art explorers and creators. Girl Scouts discover how nature inspires art, explore the visual interests of natural textures, search for hidden patterns, and design and plant a terrarium to take home with them.
This Exploration Day is designed to support the Brownie Outdoor Art Creator and the Junior Art Explorer Badges. Denver Botanic Gardens does not supply activity badges. Badges can be purchased through the GSCO Shop.
The Gardens aim to provide the opportunity for all families to experience the wonders of nature through hands-on programming. To learn more about the Gardens' Children and Family Programs registration financial assistance program, visit our Financial Assistance Application.
Girl Scout Exploration Days offer Girl Scouts the opportunity to explore plant-based themes through a variety of hands-on activities and take-home projects. Each Exploration Day offers several activity stations for groups to explore. Group leaders are provided with materials and instructions needed to guide their group through each activity station.
Depending on the time of year and weather, activity stations and explorations may take place indoors or outdoors. Your group should be prepared to spend time both indoors and outdoors. Depending on the size and interests of your group, the program will take about two hours to complete. Program registration includes admission to the Gardens, and your group is welcome to stay and explore the Gardens on your own after the program.
$15 per Girl Scout; one group leader is required for every seven Girl Scouts. Group Leaders are free of charge. Group leaders are responsible for leading and guiding their group through the activity stations. Additional adults and non-participating siblings are an additional $7 each. Non-participating siblings do not participate in take-home activities. Additional Adults and non-participating siblings are welcome to follow the group through the activity stations or explore the Gardens on their own.
