All adults are invited to step into the great outdoors for a weekend dedicated to learning, connecting, and growing. Take part in certification trainings to strengthen your outdoor leadership skills, or simply unwind and engage with fellow Girl Scouts and camp enthusiasts. With overnight and day-only options, this event offers the perfect chance to step up, relax, and leave with new knowledge, new friends, and a renewed sense of purpose for all adults and volunteers!

Whether you're building confidence, expanding your expertise, or simply looking to learn something new, the outdoor and wilderness learning series is for you! This event is open to all adults, volunteer or nonmember, so bring your friends!

About Ridgway State Park
Ridgway State Park is a splendid natural treasure nestled at the foot of the majestic San Juan Mountains in southwestern Colorado. This year-round haven for outdoor enthusiasts spans nearly five miles through the Uncompahgre River Valley, inviting adventurers of all kinds to explore the picturesque park. Beyond the park, visitors can explore the charming town of Ridgway, the historic town of Ouray, Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park, Mesa Verde National Park, and world-class off-road trails, making this park an ideal base for discovering the best of Southwest Colorado and creating lasting memories.

 

GSCO has a large group site reserved at Ridgway SP.

Overnight guests must bring their own tent and a sleeping bag . Don't have all the gear? Ridgway offers free loaner camping equipment to make your outdoor adventure a reality. Call 970-626-5822 to inquire about loaner equipment.

RVs are welcome as an alternative to tent camping.

Site Amenities include:

  • Picnic sites with shade shelters and picnic tables
  • Fire ring and BBQ grills
  • Showers, flush toilets, and sinks
  • Group kitchen with full size refrigerator, range & oven, kitchen sink,
  • Large group pavilion with numerous picnic tables and a serving counter
  • Large shared tent camping area
  • Large group hammock stand
  • Individual 50 amp electrical hook ups
  • Individual water hook-ups
  • Shared RV dump station

Meals

  • All participants will be provided lunch on the days they are registered to attend courses.
  • Friday overnight guests should plan to eat dinner before arrival.
  • Saturday overnight guests will be provided dinner. 
  • All overnight guests will be provided breakfast the following morning(s).

We will do our best to honor all dietary restrictions and allergies. Please be sure to provide us with this information during registration.

Lodging
Overnight stays will cost participants an additional $40 per night. This cost includes meals noted above.

Courses offered at Ridgway State Park OWLS Weekend include:

Let's Go Camping: This training is required to take Girl Scout groups on front-country camping trips.

Advanced Outdoor Skills: Build on your Let's Go Camping training to level up your campcraft with gourmet campfire cooking, knots and lashing, map and compass work, and hands-on facilitation skills designed for next-level Girl Scout adventures.

Adult Archery Training: Become certified to lead beginner Archery programs.

Fun Facilitator: Learn the camp facilitator ropes with hands-on training in leading songs, games, traditions, and inclusive outdoor experiences that make Girl Scouting unforgettable.

Paddling/ Small Craft Safety: Become certified to lead Girl Scouts in canoe, kayak, and stand-up paddle board adventures.

CANCELLED - Wilderness and Remote First Aid: Become certified in Wilderness and Remote First Aid for remote outdoor adventures.

CANCELLED - Backpacking: Learn the basics of overnight trips in the backcountry!  Explore equipment use, food options, campsite selection, and more for a safe adventure.

  • Financial Aid is available for members only.
  • Event capacity is very limited. Registration will close when capacity is met.

If you have trouble completing registration, please contact inquiry@gscolorado.org or 877-404-5708.

If you cannot attend a Girl Scouts of Colorado event, please cancel to allow another Girl Scout to take your spot! Full refunds will be given up to two weeks before the registration deadline, partial refunds (minus a $5 processing fee) will be given within two weeks of the deadline, and no refunds will be given after the registration deadline.
