This transformative, immersive weekend was designed for adult members to master the WAGGGS Leadership Model and internalize it as a lifelong practice. Leadership is not a position of power, but a daily choice to put values into action. This retreat, hosted and led by the GSCO Global Action Team, focuses on equipping you with six leadership mindsets to create positive change not only as a leader in Girl Scouting but also in your professional career, family life, and local community. Through hands-on practice, you will learn to use these mindsets as "windows" to navigate complex situations, resolve conflicts, and lead with authenticity in every environment you inhabit.

To ensure consistent application of leadership mindsets and achievement of collective program outcomes, full participation in the three-day retreat is preferred. For those with scheduling constraints, a Saturday-only option is available from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; however, participants selecting this option must commit to the entire scheduled day.

Core Goals

  • Mastering the Mindsets: Transition from understanding leadership as a theory to practicing it as a "whole-person" process through the Reflective, Collaborative, Worldly, Creative & Critical Thinking, Gender Equality, and Responsible Action mindsets.
  • Real-World Application: Develop concrete strategies to apply leadership practices to external roles, such as navigating workplace dynamics, strengthening family bonds, and modeling responsible citizenship in the world.
  • Outcome-Driven Growth: Align personal development with the 10 WAGGGS Leadership Outcomes, including treating oneself kindly, innovating for impact, and making choices rooted in core values.
  • Collaborative Practice: Utilize the global kitchen, games, music, crafts, campfire, and team challenges to practice shared leadership and fun sisterhood.

Intended Outcomes

  • Internalized Practice: Participants will leave with a personalized "Leadership Journal" and toolkit to continue daily reflective practice in their jobs and homes.
  • Enhanced Self-Awareness: A deeper understanding of how personal context and bias influence leadership, allowing for more empathetic interactions in diverse professional and social settings.
  • Empowered Advocacy: The confidence to challenge gender stereotypes and barriers to leadership in all areas of life, championing a world where everyone can reach their full potential.
