Celebrate a night (afternoon) of sparks, stories, and British tradition at our Bonfire Night family camp! Mufasa, Program and Operations Director, is excited to share a tradition he grew up with in England. Inspired by the centuries-old UK celebration of Guy Fawkes Night, this fall afternoon is all about gathering together around the fire. Enjoy traditions, treats, and family-friendly activities that share the history and fun behind this unique holiday. Whether you're new to the tradition or bringing it from across the pond, this is a warm, welcoming way to kick off November.
We'll craft lanterns, create traditional scarecrow-like "Guys" (figures representing Guy Fawkes), and-if conditions permit-light up the night with a bonfire to remember! Lunch and snacks provided. Please note: as part of the cultural tradition, this event may include the burning of a scarecrow-style figure representing Guy Fawkes during the bonfire.
OPTIONAL OVERNIGHT ADD-ON: This camp has an optional overnight add on that will include a traditional British dinner and breakfast and an overnight stay in a rustic cabin (hard-sided building with power but no plumbing).
This is a family event. Any family members of a current girl scout member may attend.
Girl Scouts of Colorado requires a GSCO Outdoor Program Participation Waiver submitted for each minor and adult participant.
