Girl Scouts of Colorado is teaming up with Microsoft to present a new AI-focused patch program, Explore AI. This program invites Girl Scouts in 6th through 12th grade to unlock their creativity and passions to dream up a novel destination and create the content to help tell its story while learning about the capabilities of generative AI. The new Girl Scouts of Colorado x Microsoft Patch Program will launch on Monday, Jan. 20. The launch-event will take place atGirl Scout DreamLab (63 N. Quebec St., Denver) with time slots at 10 - 11:30 a.m. and 1 - 2:30 p.m.
“At Microsoft, we believe in the importance of learning and encouraging innovation. By partnering with the Girl Scouts of Colorado, we are ensuring that the next generation of leaders is well-equipped to navigate and shape the future of technology. We are excited to see the incredible potential of these young learners as they build their AI skills,” shared Jeana Jorgensen, corporate vice-president of the Worldwide Learning organization at Microsoft.
In this Patch Program, Girl Scouts will develop prompting skills as they explore how generative AI can help them brainstorm, write, refine, and design stunning visuals, bringing their imaginative ideas into reality. Each step of the program is packed with fun sample prompts and examples to inspire the girls’ creative journey as they learn new skills.
Patch programs are created in collaboration with local organizations and are a great way for girls to explore a wide variety of topics and community resources. Girls are able to explore their interests and ambitions by increasing access to local experts, community resources, and hands-on learning opportunities. Patches are proudly displayed on Girl Scouts’ uniforms to document and show off the experiences they’ve had.
“Girl Scouts of Colorado is thrilled to be partnering with Microsoft to for the first time to introduce this forward-thinking patch program,” says Girl Scouts of Colorado CEO Leanna Clark. “AI is an exciting and powerful tool, and we want to use this program as an opportunity to teach younger generations of girls how to utilize AI in a safe and creative way.”
Participants will earn a special Microsoft AI patch that celebrates their newly learned skills in generative AI prompting.
