Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) is an early intervention public education program provided by the National Council for Mental Health that teaches adults how to recognize and respond to signs of mental health challenges in youth. Participants learn how to identify warning signs and symptoms, listen non-judgmentally, offer reassurance and support, and connect youth to professional help and resources when needed.
This blended learning course includes:
Two hours of self-paced online learning, completed prior to the live session.
Five and a half hours of live, instructor-led training, where participants will apply their knowledge through discussions and activities.
Instructions for completing the online portion will be emailed to participants after registration closes. Completion of the online module is required before attending the live session.

by educator Betty Kitchener and Professor Tony Jorm, Mental Health
First Aid was introduced in the United States in 2008 through the
National Council for Mental Wellbeing, the Maryland Department of
Health and Mental Hygiene, and the Missouri Department of Mental Health.
