You don't have to love reading or be "good at writing" to come to this event!
Junior Girl Scouts are invited to meet New York Times Bestselling Author, Alyson Gerber, the real-life author of books for kids, including The Liars Society series, and hear how she shares her ideas and stories. Alyson will talk about how she went from a reluctant reader with undiagnosed ADHD to a critically acclaimed and bestselling author, where story ideas come from, and why writers don't start out perfect-because everyone has ideas worth sharing.
At the event, you'll listen, ask questions, and get inspired. You won't have to write anything there.
Afterward, you'll receive a Junior Scribe Starter Kit to help you earn your Junior Girl Scout Scribe badge at home, at your own pace. You can write, draw, make lists, or use sentence starters, whatever works best for you.
Girls will also have a special opportunity to share their writing with the author, Alyson Gerber. Included in the Junior Scribe Starter Kit, instructions for completed writing pieces to be sent to a GSCO staff member, who will then forward them to the author for encouragement, age-appropriate feedback, a meaningful, real-world writing experience, and a chance to connect with a professional writer. There are no grades, no pressure, and no "wrong" answers.
