Girl Scout Brownies, the LINC, Library Innovation Center within the High Plains Library District, invites you to explore family stories, learn about your family's origins, create a family tree, discuss objects that are part of a family's history, and share your family stories with others!

In preparation for this event, please have your Girl Scout have fun learning about her family and its history:

  • Interview a family member about their place of birth and learn a story about their life.
  • Learn about where their family immigrated from. Where she was born, her parents, her grandparents, etc., and look at those places on a map.
  • Create a list of relatives for a family tree story! Names, relationships, fun facts.
  • Discover a family picture or heirloom - Bring a small photo (or photocopy) so she can add it to her "My Story Folder". Bring a family heirloom (or a picture of one), so they can share with everyone why it's so important to the family.
  • Have your Girl Scout Brownie think about four things about your family that she can share with the group.

Once you register for this event, a document will be emailed to you to assist with these discussions prior to the event.

My Family Story badges will be distributed at the end of the event.
