What does it mean to be a citizen? How do laws get made? Who leads
our communities-and how can you be a part of it all?
In
this hands-on program, Girl Scouts will dive into the foundations of
civics and government through interactive activities, creative
problem-solving, and real-world connections. Whether you're just
beginning to explore these topics or already a US government expert,
this experience will help you build the knowledge and confidence to be
an active and informed citizen.
Girl Scouts will:
Draft an essay for the National Civics Bee, a real competition
where middle schoolers can earn recognition, awards, and even
cash prizes
The thinking, questioning, and learning you do today is just the
beginning! You can return to this program each year to grow your civic
knowledge, sharpen your leadership skills, and be ready for future
opportunities like the National Civics Bee.
All
participants will earn their Foundations of Democracy patch and earn
their Democracy badge.
