Volunteer training events are offered statewide at different times during the year, offering classes to meet the needs and support the success of our volunteers. The events will include a variety of classes and time and opportunities to connect with your peers and share ideas and Girl Scout experiences.

Friday September 17

5:30 – 6:30 p.m. Open House

Product Program
Fall Product and Cookie Program are key fundraisers for Girl Scout troops. Come chat about the S’mores Club, resources available, ideas for your troop and more! The Product Program team is available for questions and suggestions.

Membership Connection Committee
The MCC is the representative body for Girl Scouts of Colorado. They act as a conduit between GSCO membership and the Board of Directors and senior staff by accepting questions and input from members, passing on appropriate information, receiving reports from GSCO and, most importantly, sharing information with membership. Their main goal is to ensure that all volunteers have a proactive role in influencing the direction of Girl Scouting in Colorado.

 

Camp
Day Camp, Overnight Camp, Family Camp, Troop Camp – so many opportunities! Our GSCO camps give Girl Scouts time to go back to the mountains and turn the world around. Girls can recharge, unplug, and reconnect. Come learn about the opportunities available to troops to get out to any of our eight camp properties!

Girl Scouts is devoted to keeping our program relevant and progressive. Therefore, we are continuously launching new badges for our Girl Scouts to earn. Join us to learn more about the new badges that were launched this year!

10:45 – 11 a.m. Break

11 a.m. – 12 p.m. Keynote speaker – Meg Fredrick, The Mindfulness and Positivity Project
What is it you plan to do with your one precious life? Our happiness is our choice, and our daily intentions and practices allow us to live our best lives. In a world filled with uncertainty and difficulty, we can still find joy, peace, and calm. We all wish to be our best selves and impact our community in a positive way, so let’s practice just how we can achieve our goals.

12:30 – 1:30 p.m. Workshop 2: Bringing Mindfulness into Troop Meetings
Join Meg Fredrick from the Mindfulness and Positivity Project as she discusses practical ways for bringing mindfulness into troop meetings using hands-on tools.

1:45 – 2:45 p.m. Workshop 3: Older Girl Scouts Taking the Lead
Do you struggle with passing the leadership torch to your older girl troop? Join us for a discussion about ways to balance multiple girls’ ambition - from girls who simply want to earn badges to girls who are ready to earn their Gold Award! Learn how to support them as they figure out who is taking what role during troop meetings.

2:45 – 3 p.m. Break

3 – 4 p.m. Workshop 4: Traditions, Songs and Ceremonies
Quiet signs, secret handshakes, and SWAPS might sound like they are from a spy movie, but they are long-standing Girl Scout traditions! Learn the history and importance of incorporating traditions and ceremonies into your Girl Scout meetings and activities.

4 – 4:15 p.m. Break

4:15 – 5:15 p.m. Workshop 5: Awesome First Year Experience
If you are a new troop leader, you won’t want to miss this workshop! Dive into the Girl Scout year calendar and learn how to navigate all the great program opportunities available.

Level up your resource knowledge, take a deep dive into each category and learn how each resource works together.

11 – 12 p.m. Workshop 7: Getting Girls Scouts Outdoors
Girl Scouts was founded by Juliette Gordon Low who loved campouts and outdoor adventures! Whether it is meeting outdoors for a troop meeting or going on a hike, you may be surprised just how much girls grow and learn from being in nature. Learn about Girl Scouts Love State Parks, Girl Scout Tree Promise and more!

12 – 12:30 p.m. Lunch Break

12:30 – 1:30 p.m. Workshop 9: Product Program- Explore the 5 Skills
Girls are interested in becoming entrepreneurs and need support and encouragement as they learn and practice their leadership skills. Join us as we break down each of the 5 skills and learn tips and tricks for encouraging girls to participate in the cookie and fall product program. There will also be a sneak peak of the 2022 Cookie Rewards!

1:30 – 1:45 p.m. Break

1:45 – 2:45 p.m. Workshop 11: DEIA Introduction
As a Girl Scout volunteer, you are guiding the leaders of tomorrow! Your troop, or troops, are full of Girl Scouts of all types of abilities, backgrounds, and identities. Join us for an introduction into GSCO’s DEIA gsLearn course and some Q&A time.

2:45 – 3 p.m. Closing Ceremony
