Are a new volunteer Girl Scouting 101

Girl Scouting 101 is a 45-minute orientation to Girl Scouting for any volunteer who is new to the organization, whether they work directly with girls or behind the scenes. This course covers the Girl Scout Mission, Promise and Law; Girl Scout Safety Standards; what Girl Scouts do; flexible participation options; developmental characteristics of girls; and Girl Scout cookies.

Meet or work with girls on a regular basis It’s Your Journey—Customize It! This course is recommended for volunteers working with girls at every grade level. Gain tips on using the journey books and adult guide as a basis for the Girl Scout Leadership Experience. Learn to expand the experience through use of the Girl’s Guide to Girl Scouting, field trips and other activities. Transform service projects into Take Action. In person

Want to take a one-or two-night overnight trip Overnight Trips This course is required before planning an overnight trip and 3-6 months prior to the trip. Learn to work with your girls to plan and take short trips. This course covers overnights at the leader’s house to two-night overnights with no outdoor cooking or fires.
Materials fee: $5

Want to cook outdoors or take girls camping Cooking and Camping This course is required before planning an outing that involves cooking outdoors and/or camping overnight and 6-9 months prior to the trip. This course prepares adults to partner with girls in planning and preparing for outdoor cooking, fire building (in-door and out) and overnight camping.
Prerequisite: Overnight Trips
Materials fee: $25

Want to take girls on a trip of three (3) nights or more Extended Trip This course is required before planning a domestic or international trip of 3 nights or more and 12 to 24 months prior to the trip. This training is for adult trip advisors and Junior Girl Scouts and above (limit 2 per troop/group) who are going to plan and attend the trip. Topics include safety, deciding destinations, transportation, budgeting and money earning.
Prerequisite: Overnight Trips

Want to learn about Take Action projects or the Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards Take Action and Highest Awards Training Taking Action – A 15-20 minute power point on the background of Take Action and the differences between community service and take action will be developed for membership managers to make available to service units.  The primary audience for this training is adults, but it can also be used with troops. Available Jan.  2012

Take Action 101- A 2 hour general introduction to the Take Action concepts, how they illustrate the Girl Scout Leadership Experience and the application to Highest Awards.  Includes take-home activities and steps to starting a Take Action project.

In Depth Training - Take Action training emphasizing hands on experience with Take Action tools such as Personal Compass and Community Mapping.  This 3 hour training hours and is appropriate for Cadettes, Seniors, Ambassadors, and Adults.

Bronze & Silver Award Forum – Roundtables designed to answer questions regarding the Bronze and Silver award processes.

Gold Award Training - Designed for girls who are within 6 months of submitting a project proposal.  This 2 hour session is required for girls applying to work on a gold award project.

Want to learn how to plan your own event or series program Program Planning Guide Training This 2-hour course is required prior to planning your own event or series program.  The training is open to adult volunteers and Junior Girl Scouts and above who will participate in the planning process.  Topics include steps to planning a successful program, planning timelines and money earning policies.
