This volunteer position has a seven month term with the possibility of reappointment at the consent of both the volunteer and Girl Scouts of Colorado (GSCO).

Summary

The Service Unit Cookie Manager (SUCM) is responsible for administering the cookie sale for the troops in the service unit, coordination at delivery sites, accurate record keeping and distribution of recognitions to the troops.

Support

The Service Unit Cookie Manager will get support, guidance and encouragement from Area Cookie Managers, the Product Sales and Membership Staff. She/he will have access to relevant learning opportunities and will undergo the required training and orientation to Girl Scouts Product Sales. This will enhance her/his knowledge and confidence to work successfully with other volunteers and will enrich her/his Girl Scout volunteer experience.

Responsibilities/Tasks

• Remain informed about and comply with the most current policies, procedures, and guidelines of Girl Scouts of Colorado (GSCO) and Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA). Including but not limited to those found in Volunteer Essentials and the Unit Cookie Book.
• Complete training appropriate for position including training conducted by the ACM and/or Regional Manager of Product Sales.
• Train/assist the Troop Cookie Managers (TCM) about all aspects of the cookie sale program. Be available to answer questions from TCMs. Be willing to do special trainings for new troops that may be starting after the official service unit training. Be willing to train and assist girls and their parents who are participating individually in the cookie activity.
• Set up troops in eBudde (online cookie management software), assist troops with entering orders as necessary, verify and submit troop orders by deadline date.
• At delivery site, assist recording information accurately and completely, and obtain signatures as necessary.
• Recruit and help train volunteers to help at delivery locations.
• Keep accurate count of all packages of cookies.
• Follow all procedures for money handling as outlined in the Unit Cookie Book.
• Receive all cookie reports from troops and check for accuracy.
• Submit summary report to the ACM or Regional Manager of Product Sales and complete the online unit evaluation.

Qualifications and Core Competencies - Required

• Accept the Girl Scout Promise and Law and register as a member of GSUSA.
• Be an approved adult volunteer with a volunteer application, cleared background check, and two references on file with GSCO.
• Present a positive image of Girl Scouting to girls, volunteers and community members through effective communication, high personal standards of conduct and knowledge of the Girl Scout program and organization. Promote the benefits of Girl Scouting and the importance of making a personal financial contribution and volunteering time to GSCO.
• Willingness to learn about and work with adults and girls with diverse backgrounds/abilities. Adjust/modify own behavior and remain flexible and tolerant in response to changing situations and environments.
• Have access to a computer with internet access and to a phone, or be willing to travel to a place where access is available (local library, school or local Girl Scout Service Center).
• Customer Support Focus: Able to respond to requests from parents, girls and other Product Sales Volunteers in a timely manner. Understands the importance of deadlines set by Product Sales and works to meet all the deadlines.
• Express ideas and facts clearly and accurately in both oral and written communications.
• Personal integrity: Demonstrates dependability, honesty, and credibility.

• Ability to assist the cupboard with data entry.
• Participate in a post-sale evaluation to help GSCO improve future sales.
• Make a personal financial contribution to Girl Scouts of Colorado. (The amount or form of gift is up to the individual.)
