Time Commitment: 1 year

This volunteer position has a one-year term with the possibility of reappointment at the consent of both the volunteer and Girl Scouts of Colorado (GSCO).

Reports to:  Director of Volunteer Strategy and Training

Summary:
Review nominations and make recommendations to Girl Scouts of Colorado Board for GSUSA adult recognitions and celebrate the accomplishments of all volunteers. The individual who fills this volunteer position will gain a sense of accomplishment, develop job-related skills, and connect with the community.

Support:
Girl Scouts of Colorado will:

  • Provide orientation and training
  • Establish meeting, phone calls and webinar times based on committee schedules and needs
  • Provide necessary documentation to review recognitions

Responsibilities/Tasks:

  • Remain informed about and comply with the most current policies, procedures, and guidelines of Girl Scouts of Colorado (GSCO) and Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA).  Including but not limited to those found in Volunteer Essentials and GSCO Adult Recognitions booklet.
  • Complete training appropriate for position.
  • Participate in committee meetings, phone calls or webinars to review adult recognition nominations annually.
  • Follow guidelines established by GSUSA for awarding of recognitions.
  • Review and revise recognitions booklet, as needed.
  • Assist in promoting recognitions within the community.
  • Present a positive image of Girl Scouting to volunteers and community members through effective communication, high personal standards of conduct, knowledge of the Girl Scout organization, and adult recognitions.
  • Attend local council sponsored recognitions celebrations.

Qualifications and Core Competencies – Required:

  • Accept the Girl Scout Promise and Law and register as a member of GSUSA.
  • Be an approved adult volunteer with a volunteer application, cleared background check, and two references on file with GSCO.
  • Present a positive image of Girl Scouting to girls, volunteers and community members through effective communication, high personal standards of conduct and knowledge of the Girl Scout program and organization. Promote the benefits of Girl Scouting and the importance of making a personal financial contribution and volunteering time to GSCO.
  • Willingness to learn about and work with adults and girls with diverse backgrounds/abilities.
  • Communicate in a manner appropriate towards volunteers and staff.
  • Embrace people of diverse backgrounds and abilities to celebrate their accomplishments.
  • Uphold ethical standards of each recognition.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Maintain a sense of humor and objectivity.

Additional Competencies, Skills, or Requirements – Preferred:

  • Make a personal financial contribution to Girl Scouts of Colorado. (The amount or form of gift is up to the individual.)
