Service Unit Registrar

Time Commitment: 1 year

This volunteer position has a one year term with the possibility of reappointment at the consent of both the volunteer and GSCO. 

Reports to:
Service Unit Manager and Membership Staff

Summary:
Provide support to volunteers and parents in completing the Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA) membership registration in a timely and accurate fashion.

Girl Scouts of Colorado agrees to provide ongoing support, guidance and encouragement including access to relevant learning opportunities.

Responsibilities/Tasks:
Work with Membership Staff and other volunteers to:

  • Maintain the standards, carry out the purpose, and adhere to all policies and procedures of Girl Scouts of Colorado (GSCO) and GSUSA as they relate to registration.
  • Be guided in all actions by the Girl Scout Mission, Promise, and Law. Serve as a positive example by modeling positive attributes such as reliability, respect for others, inclusiveness, and a positive attitude.
  • Complete training for the position.
  • Be familiar with GSUSA online membership registration (e-biz) including Troop Management tool, account or profile creation, and registration process for new and returning members.
  • Provide opportunities for adult and girl registration at recruitment events, Service Unit functions, and other appropriate occasions.
  • Facilitate and provide guidance in registration of girls and adults regardless of Pathway.
  • If affiliated with a Service Unit maintain Service Unit membership rosters and reports.

Qualifications and Core Competencies – Required:

  • Accept the Girl Scout Promise and Law and register as a member of GSUSA.
  • Present a positive image of Girl Scouting to girls, volunteers and community members through effective communication, high personal standards of conduct and knowledge of the Girl Scout program and organization.  Promote the benefits of Girl Scouting and the importance of making a personal financial contribution and volunteering time to GSCO.
  • Be an approved adult volunteer with a volunteer application, cleared background check, and two references on file with GSCO.
  • Have email and Internet access.  Familiar with the basics of online purchasing and profile creation.
  • Willingness to learn about and work with adults and girls with diverse backgrounds/abilities.
  • Knowledge of (or willing to learn about) diverse Girl Scout Pathways (participation options).
  • Ability to work and communicate well with people and proactively seek resolution of conflict.
  • Willingness and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Use discretion in all confidential matters.

Additional Competencies or Skills – Preferred:

  • Experience with GSUSA online membership registration (e-biz) including Troop Management tool, account or profile creation, and registration process for new and returning members.
  • Make a personal financial contribution to Girl Scouts of Colorado. (The amount or form of gift is up to the individual.)
