New to Girl Scouts

If you are new to Girl Scouts or thinking about joining Girl Scouts, welcome! We're thrilled you're here. Our mission is to build girls of courage, confidence and character who make the world a better place. Girl Scouting is all about leadership, sisterhood, traditions, progression and having a great time with girls who will be your friends for life.

Getting started

  1. You'll want to know what program level your girl will join and some fun things she might do.
  2. Girls can join a troop, participate in a series, go to events and camp. Learn about all the ways to be a Girl Scout to find out more about each one.
  3. Although there are other ways to be a Girl Scout, joining a troop is still a popular choice. If you are looking for a troop in your area or hoping to start a troop at your school, fill out an interest form and a Placement Specialist will contact you.
  4. After you submit the interest form, you'll be directed to our online registration system. Registering does not guarantee placement in a troop, but it does make her an official Girl Scout so she can go to camp, attend events, sell cookies, etc.
  5. We're always looking for additional adult volunteers, so if you think you'd like to join your girl in her Girl Scout experience or help out in one of many other ways, visit the Become a Volunteer page to learn more and get started.
