Leadership Awards

Leadership Awards

Cadette, Senior, and Ambassador Girl Scouts (grades 6th and older) have the opportunity to earn three special National Leadership Awards. The requirements to earn these awards are below and in the handbook section of your Girl's Guide to Girl Scouting!  Each award represents a new project, and can be earned once at each program level.  Questions?  Contact us!

Community Service Bar

When you earn the Community Service bar, you are making a difference in your community - and practicing the values of the Girl Scout Law. It's also a great way to get involved with a particular cause you care about.

  • Choose an organization where you'd like to volunteer.
The organization will need to agree to give you instructions about the work you'll be doing.
  • Complete at least 20 hours of service and log your hours.
  • Let us know you've earned the Community Service Bar and purchase the award!
Service to Girl Scouting Bar

Interested in volunteering within the Girl Scouts community? You can earn the Service to Girl Scouting Bar! You could volunteer at a special event for younger girls, be an office assistant at your local Girl Scout office, or help with special projects.

  • Volunteer at least 20 hours to the Girl Scout organization and log your hours.
  • Let us know you've earned the Service to Girl Scouting Bar and purchase the award!
Torch Award

This award recognizes Girl Scouts who act as leaders in their communities. There are two steps to earn the award:

  • Complete one Leadership Journey.
  • Serve for one full term in a leadership position.
The length of your service will depend on the term specified by the organization or particular role.
  • Let us know you've earned the Torch Award and purchase the award!

You may serve in a leadership position at your school, place of worship, library, town council, community center, after-school club, or a similar organization. Looking for ideas?  You could be a school yearbook editor or join a committee to organize youth events in your community or service unit.  Get creative!
