New Troop Leaders
All new troop leaders, co-leaders, assistant leaders, advisors, etc. (all adults regularly working with troops) are required to complete Orientation (previously Girl Scout Ways) and Ledership Essentials (Prevously Age Level Leader Training) within three months of starting with the troop. At least one leader must complete both traings before starting to work with the troop.
Leaders Moving to a New/Different Program Level
All previously leader-trained troop leaders, co-leaders, assistant leaders, advisors, etc. moving to a new/different program level are required to complete a Leadership Essentials (prevously Stepping Stones) within three months of starting in that new level.
Recommended Trainings
These courses are designed to enhance the Girl Scout experience, while preparing you to safely and effectively lead your troop in the activities and programs that interest them most!
Enrichment
In addition to required training, Girl Scouts of Colorado offers many enrichment courses to support you and the unique interests of your troop!
Waiver of Girl Scout Leader Training
Volunteers may apply for a training waiver if they have completed comparable Girl Scout training in another Girl Scout council.
- Complete a “Request for Training Waiver” form. This form may be obtained from your local service center, a unit manager or membership services executive.
- Return the completed form to: Training Dept., Girl Scouts of Colorado, PO BOX 9407, Denver, CO 80209-0407. An application must be accompanied by a training record or letter of authorization from the previous Girl Scout council verifying that the training in question has been completed.
- Applicants will receive written verification of the action taken regarding their requests. A copy of the verification will be sent to the unit manager or membership services executive.
