As Girl Scouts of Colorado explores new pathways for girls (and volunteers) to be Girl Scouts, the first two virtual troops  are forming now.

The first troop to get started is based on the Western Slope. This virtual troop is open to Girl Scout Seniors and Ambassadors. The troop's e-mail address is: gscovirtualtroop@yahoo.com. They also have a My Space page, search  gscovirtualtroop and they are working on a Facebook page. E-mail the troop to get involved today!

Two stellar volunteers, Sarah Daniel and Ella Scott, have agreed to lead this troop. Sarah is a lifetime member and Gold Award recipient who co-leads a Brownie troop in Mesa County. Ella is a sophomore at Mesa State College. She stayed with Girl Scouting through her senior year in high school and is ready to take on the challenges of leading a virtual troop.

Another virtual troop for Junior and Cadette age levels began in January and now has six members. The girls are working on their second badge. Although they are functioning as a troop that meets online, they are also planning to get together a few times a year to interact in person and have an opportunity to get to know one another better. Their first in-person gathering will be at a camp experience this summer. Some of the girls sold cookies this year and have a goal of going to Italy in four years! The leader and co-leader are Sue Smith of LaVeta and Kayla Andreatta of Alamosa.  For more information, contact Kimber B.
