Spread the good news about Girl Scouts -- Be a Media Messenger

Be our partner in sharing Girl Scout news!
We know Girl Scouts in your area do many fabulous things with their troops and girls each year. This is your chance to brag about it! Who doesn’t love to see their photo in the newspaper or watch their daughter do an interview on TV? These opportunities help tell the Girl Scout story and build visibility for our organization in the community.

What is a Media Messenger?
A person within a service unit or area who volunteers to help promote Girl Scouting in their community. Volunteers are the most important people in the Girl Scout organization when it comes to telling the Girl Scout story within the community. Media Messengers will share the exciting news about Girl Scouts in their community.

Why has this position been developed?
Because promoting Girl Scouting in the community is the responsibility of everyone–from staff to volunteers, girls, parents and donors. When we work together in promoting Girl Scouting, we can help recruit more girls, adults, dollars and more to help Girl Scouts of Colorado build girls of courage, confidence and character, who help to make the world a better place.

What is the time commitment for this position?
The time commitment is flexible. Council will provide you the opportunities and tools throughout the year to promote Girl Scouting initiatives and events in your community, and then it’s up to you on how far you want to take it. If you are looking for a career change, being a Media Messenger is great experience for your resume.

What experience is required?
A passion for promoting all the good Girl Scouting does in the community! Strong writing and interpersonal communication skills are also important. Training and tools provided by Girl Scouts of Colorado.

How many times have you seen Girl Scouting featured in your local media?
The stories are out there! We just need help getting them to local media and increasing the visibility of Girl Scouting in the community. Contact Amanda Kalina at 303-607-4844 (1-866-827-7033).
