Deep snow gets girls going on 'Frosty Fun' badge
A group of Gunnison girls didn't let their day off from school on Feb. 1 go to waste. They got out in the deep snow and got down to the fun of earning their Frosty Fun badges.
They took a walk in some very deep snow looking for animal tracks, and they spotted fox tracks and deer tracks and even saw the deer that made them. The group made snow sculptures and painted snow with colored water in spray bottles.
The girls also discussed hypothermia and frostbite and started the beginnings of an emergency car kit for each girl to complete with her family. They even did a blubber experiment and made paper snowflakes.
