Durango Girl Scouts collect 1 ton of pet food

Girl Scout Juniors from Durango collected 1 ton of pet food to help families in need keep their pets. The 4th graders at Park Elementary in Durango hosted a community-wide pet food drive in conjunction with the La Plata County Humane Society's Adopt-a-thon on May 15 and 16. The food collected will be donated to the humane society for people in the community who are struggling to feed their pets.
The girls had a great time and got to be on a local radio station getting the word out about their drive.
Ashley W., 10, said, “We don’t want anyone in our community to have to give up their pets.”
