Colorado Girl Scouts lend a hand to Ordway fire victims
Contributions from Kristi I., leader, Troop 199, and Amy H., leader, Troop 1122
Members of Brownie/Junior Troop 199 of Pueblo and Daisy Troop 1122 of Pueblo West recently completed putting together hygiene care kits for the victims of the Ordway fire. Both troops made cards and put together comfort kits of personal care items. Troop 199 even budgeted and shopped for the care items before they packaged the kits for three families of four. Additionally, Troop 199 used the money left over to purchase nine stuffed animals to give to the children from Ordway left homeless by the fires.
Troop 199 delivered the care kits and stuffed animals to the Pueblo Girl Scout Service Center on Friday, April 25, on their way to a badge camp weekend in Estes Park. It was a great way to begin the weekend! Troop 1122 has also delivered their items to the local Red Cross Branch.
Girl Scouts throughout the state have been asked to put together care kits for the victims of the Ordway fires. A troop in the Conejos County area put together 20 kits. Colorado Girl Scouts are stepping forward in a big way for this effort and are learning how it feels to help your neighbors while you make the world a better place.
