Apprentice Trainer

 An apprentice trainer works with an experienced or master trainer as the primary trainer and: 

  • Completes all the requirements for basic trainer.
  • Completes self-evaluation after each course.
  • In collaboration with the training executive, participates in self-evaluation process. 

Trainer

 A trainer actively participates in the delivery of the Girl Scouts of Colorado Council training programs and:

  • Is a registered member of Girl Scouts of the U.S.A.
  • Has a completed application, background check and reference check with Girl Scouts of Colorado.
  • Has completed Train-the-Trainer course.
  • Participates in the evaluation process.
  • Attends one or more trainer updates per year.
  • Trains at least five (5) times per year.
  • Has completed an LIT course if a Senior Girl Scout.   

Experienced Trainer

 An experienced trainer has completed the terms listed for apprentice trainer, trains at least eight (8) times per year and: 

  • Has completed one additional training course in a specialized area of trainer competency.
  • Serves on a training committee or task group of the Training Department.   

Master Trainer

A master trainer has completed the terms listed for the experienced trainer and: 

  • Serves as lead trainer for a training event.
  • Has specialized in a skill area such as outdoor education, Brownie level, etc.
  • Takes on a leadership role in the Girl Scouts of Colorado Training Department. 

Transferring Trainers

 A transferring trainer has relocated to Girl Scouts of Colorado Council and:

  • Has a completed application, background check and references with Girl Scouts of Colorado.
  • Has taken or observed Girl Scouts of Colorado training.
  • Is evaluated by a training executive to determine at which level to begin as a trainer in the Council.
  • Has completed Train-the-Trainer at another Girl Scout council and was an active trainer.  

Specialist Trainer

A specialist trainer leads specialized classes/workshops of value to Girl Scouts and: 

  • May or may not be a certified Girl Scouts of Colorado Council trainer.
  • Has current certification from that specialized field and/or has demonstrated training skill and subject area expertise.
  • Is familiar with the key Girl Scouts of Colorado materials, Safety-Wise and the purpose of Girl Scouting.
