Web site Help and FAQ
1. Can't find something on the site?
The fastest and easiest way to navigate this site is by using the robust Search tool. Type in what you're looking for and chances are good it will be found. You can choose to search the entire site.
2. I searched and don't see the results I'm looking for.
If you do a search for a general term such as "volunteer" there will be so many hits you'll have to scroll down. If you searched all areas, it will display Web pages first, then Documents below that, News next, Events and Products. You can narrow your search by including more words in the search box. If you tried searching for something specific and your search shows nothing, try searching for just one or two of the words or a slightly different word or leaving off an ending such as “s” or “ing.”
3. The site is big and can be confusing. Here’s a quick tour.
The Girl Scouts of Colorado site is big and contains tons and tons of information. It's the centerpiece of an organization that serves 33,000 girls and 10,000 volunteers all across the state of Colorado. Most of what you need can be found right off the Home Page. In the middle of the page you see a purple bubble that says Just for Girls and a green bubble that says Just for Adults, those are links that will take you to the Girls section or the section for adult volunteers, donors and the general public.
Across the top of the Home Page, you see About Us. In this section you'll find basic information about Girl Scouts of Colorado, maps of the eight regions, contact information for staff, contact information for service centers, information about our Board of Directors and about the Membership Connection Committee (the volunteer committee that gives membership their voice in the governance of Girl Scouts of Colorado).
Join Us, highlights different ways to get involved with Girl Scouts of Colorado (volunteer, find a troop, work for us).
Events & Activities tells you about things to do with Girl Scouts. Use the Events and Activity Finder Tool to search in a number of different ways for events and activities, including special council-sponsored events, anytime activities to do with your troop and other events and activities that Girl Scouts might be interested in. In the Events & Activity section you will also find Camp, Cookies and several pages of Major Events (Forever Green, Power Up, Challenge and Change, Annual Forum etc.)
News features stories and photos from Girl Scouts and troops around the state, as well as some council news and some news from GSUSA. You will also find tips on how to share your own stories with Girl Scouts of Colorado and other media outlets. There are videos posted here too -- both those produced by GSUSA, Girl Scouts of Colorado and those submitted by troops or Girl Scouts. In the news section, you'll also find a Publications page where you can see the latest Regional publications and statewide publications. There are also sections for press releases, Fact Sheet, graphics and branding (which includes logo usage), public service announcements and links to recent media coverage of Girl Scouts in Colorado.
The Shop link takes you to the online shop, where you can browse and purchase items like those sold in council shops located in the service centers across the state.
And, don't forget the Search function. It's as easy as typing what you're looking for and clicking on the "search button."
Also on the Home Page, you’ll find a link to the Photo Galleries, where you can see some of the photos from recent events; Home Page Highlights, which links to some of the News stories from Girl Scout happenings around the state, and a News Ticker that crawls across and provides links to some of the most recent happenings or changes on the site.

The buttons on the left, Just for Girls, For Adults, Donate, Volunteer, Camp and Cookies take you directly to those sections of the Web site. (They go to the same place as the top bar navigation, but you get there with one click.)
Across the bottom of every page is a green banner that includes links to the Find a Troop function, where you can search by school, city or ZIP code to contact the manager Mission Delivery in your area to be placed in a troop, My Girl Scouts Connection, where you can sign up for e-newsletters; Find An Activity for the Events & Activity Finder Tool. If you click on the arrow on the right, the banner will scroll over showing a link to Girl Scout Galleries, the photo galleries; and Special Activities, information about some of our signature events.
On the very bottom of every page in the green background, you’ll see words that take you to other frequently used sections of the site: Home, Privacy (the Girl Scouts of Colorado privacy statement), Contact Us, Espanol, Forms, Careers, Search, Site Map, Web site Feedback. (We’d love to have your ideas!)
Also, when you are on any page of the site other than the Home Page, you'll see four colored buttons on the top right side of the page. The purple Just for Girls take you to the girls section just the same as the purple button on the Home Page does except it also lets you navigate within that section. Hover on Just for Girls and you'll see the options within that section. Click on the button to have the drop-down menu stay up so you can scroll to the topic you want. The green For Adults button works the same way. There is also a yellow Donate button and a grey Volunteer button.

8. I’m looking for advice from other troops or leaders about activities for my troop, do you have a spot for that online?
Yes, the Girl Scouts of Colorado Message Boards are safe, Girl Scouts-only chat rooms where you can post a question or thought and hear back from other Girl Scout members. To keep the site safe, you will need to obtain a “secret word” from your Manager, Mission Delivery in order to set up your own account and password.
9. Can I register my daughters for summer camp online?
Not yet, but soon! Online resident camp registration is coming this winter for the 2010 camping season. The camp page is getting a redesign and will have lots of videos, virtual tours and more to make it a great place to begin your Girl Scout camping experience.
10. I would register online for Events & Activities but I’m worried about security and giving my credit card on the Internet.
