Girl Scouts Speak Out to Encourage Voting

Today’s Girl Scouts are learning to use their voices to make a difference, and they want the adults in their lives to do the same by being politically engaged. Model the way for girls by taking the time to research the candidates and issues this election season and then going to the polls to cast your vote!

Take our Daughter's to the Polls

Girl Scouts is a partner with the White House Project’s Take our Daughters to the Polls Campaign, and girls are asking their mothers to pledge to take them to the polls with them. By doing so, a mom shows her daughter that she believes in her power to make a difference – and that one day, her name can be on the ballot too.

Colorado Girl Scouts are taking the effort a step further by asking adults for their commitment to democracy and awarding them with an “I Promised a Girl Scout I Will Vote” sticker. Girl Scouts felt the power of their voice as they handed out the stickers to people passing by on Downtown Denver’s Sixteenth Street Mall in August.

The United States ranks an astounding 71st in the world for women’s political participation -- comprising only 16 percent of the Senate, 23 percent of state legislatures and 10 percent of big city mayors. We aim to show girls that there is a place for them in politics.

Colorado Girl Scouts Create “Get Out the Vote” PSAs

Participants of Girl Scouts of Colorado's Building Leadership: Teaching Democracy program, a leadership program surrounding civic engagement and America’s democratic political system, imagined, composed and created five unique public service announcments about the importance of voting and what this means to Girl Scouts.

Please view the PSAs below and vote on your favorite using the poll above; we'll submit the top pick to local and national media!
