Introduce a Girl Scout to engineering at Colorado State University! Join CSU students in a workshop that will be part of our Professional Learning Institute for engineering students.  Girls will get to see what it’s like to be in college at our new building and have a great time learning about engineering with a current student!  Goldie Blox (http://www.goldieblox.com/) is a fun game that encourages young girls to build, invent, and engineer! Each girl will get to play with a CSU engineering student, while a narrator tells the tale of Goldie Blox. At the end of the activity each girl will get to take the game home to play with their friends and family.  We only have enough games for 30 girls, so RSVP as soon as possible! Spots are first come, first served.

This event is open to Daisies and Brownies as the game recommends ages 4-9. Troop leaders are required to stay for this event.

Please RSVP to Olivia Ferrell at oref@rams.colostate.edu

Power Up creates an environment where girls and adults become skilled at counteracting bullying behavior through experiential learning and processing girls’ actual encounters. The program is research-based and outcomes-driven, and focuses on preventing the verbal and relational bullying prevalent among girls. Power Up teaches the 85% of people who are bystanders to bullying to find their power, stand up and defend others.

In this 8 hour training, girls and adults will learn how to facilitate Power Up to girls. They will learn great tools to combat bullying, the reasoning and philosophy behind it, and how to teach it to their own community!

Join Children’s Hospital Colorado and Project C.U.R.E. • to help build Kits for Kids and Infant Cure Kits, • learn more about the kids and countries around the world that you will be helping, • and earn the Girl Scout Global Action Award.

Basic “medicine cabinet” items are often scarce in the developing world. If a child gets hurt, families might have to travel a long distance by bicycle, bus or on foot to receive care at the nearest hospital or medical clinic. Working with pediatricians and nurses, the Kits for Kids program provides parents in developing nations with basic need to help treat their child’s symptoms and illnesses.

The cost to attend the event is free, and snacks will be provided, but we’re encouraging each person to please bring at least 10 items from each list below.

Please include about 45 minutes of time for after the workshop (3-3:45pm) to put together kits as a community service project.

Pre-registration is required to attend the Global Action Award workshops. If you are only planning to drop off supplies and help build kits, just stop by any time from 1:30-6pm (family and friends are welcome).

FULL - Community Service Day - /J/C/S/A - 11/16/2013
11/16/2013
Join Children’s Hospital Colorado and Project C.U.R.E. • to help build Kits for Kids and Infant Cure Kits, • learn more about the kids and countries around the world that you will be helping, • and earn the Girl Scout Global Action Award.
Event Type: GSCO Events
When: 11/16/2013
Time: 03:00 PM-04:30 PM
Where: Children's Hospital
Registration: 9/04/2013 to 11/09/2013
