Aloha Campers! Come to Tomahawk for a 3-day adventure into the Hawaiian and Caribbean Islands! This is a great experience for first-time campers. While at camp you will explore and discover the great Tomahawk Tropics, make new friends, sing around the luau campfire, visit the barnyard and create crafts. This program is for the beginning rider. Instruction at the barn includes beginning riding skills, parts of a horse and parts of the saddle, learning control of the horse, basic grooming and saddling. Riding time is dependent on weather and rider's comfort level and ability. No experience necessary.

Your troop will sample a variety of activities, possibly including: hiking, archery (4th grade and up), crafts, climbing wall, high ropes course (grade 4 and up), theater, nature and science studies, sports, international culture and a campfire program. This program includes one horseback arena ride. Riding time is dependent on weather and rider’s comfort level and ability.

You will pay the $10 deposit right now per girl, and the resulting balance will be due by the deadline date of 6/1/2012.

Spend a day at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science with your friends! We’ll provide snacks and games while you explore the museum, Imax and Planetarium. 9 – 3:30.

Program Aide (PA15)

Join us for our anual Canoe Trip!  Girls will canoe and camp their way through beautiful Still Water Canyon.  We will leave from the Denver Service Center on July 5th and return on the 11th.

Girls must attend a Basic Paddeling course (look on our website for one in May) or have equivilent experience.  If you take your paddeling course through us, the cost will be applied to the overall cost of the trip.

Total cost of the trip is $650 per girl.  When you register you will pay the $50 deposit and the remainder of the payment will be due by June 1st.  If you register after June 1st you will need to pay the entire $650.

Come check out the Denver Zoo! Eat lunch with the penguins or just have fun monkeying around. We’ll provide snacks and games. 9 – 3:30.

Celebrate the 100th anniversary of Girl Scouting this year! Recreate the days of yesteryear at Sky High Ranch. Learn Morse Code, make semaphore flags, cook outside and hike with your bedroll on your back to the backwoods just like the girls in the early days of Girls Couts0The Golden Eaglet era. Practice archery all week and discover the sport's history. Learn about the sports requirements of an Olympic athlete in this sport. Participate in basketball from the 1920s. Connect with each other on the team building course. If there is time, you’ll participate in the other camp activities Sky High has to offer. (This program does not include a horseback ride.)

Campers will get an introduction into basic skills of horseback riding at a walk and a chance to become comfortable around horses. No experience necessary.

Join us as we check out the back trails and bike paths around camp on a “Diggler” (camper-powered skateboard with wheels, handlebars and brakes). Learn about bicycle safety and care. Practice your skills in our "new" Diggler Park! . You'll be "diggling" everywhere. Other camp activities are included. Long pants are required. (This program does not include a horseback ride.)

Turn your camp snapshots into memories with digital camera (yours or a camp one). Spend time learning photography techniques & skills, taking snapshots of friends, activities & nature. Lights! Camera! Action! Calling actresses who love to sing, dance and be in the spotlight. You’ll join forces with other aspiring actresses to create and perform your own brand new production (including singing, dancing, and acting)! You will also have the chance to make a re-make of the infamous production of the “Golden Eaglet”!!! (This program does not include a horseback ride.)

Take pictures of the Colorado wildlife and Tomahawk Ranch. Develop photos in Tomahawk’s dark room, learn skills of digital photography, manipulate photos on the computer and create unique scrapbooks to capture the memories. Also have the chance to capture camp memories on video! Cameras may be provided by Tomahawk Ranch if needed. (This program does not include a horseback ride.)

Experience Pike National Park and Tomahawk Ranch in this 12-day course. Enjoy the wilderness, learn “leave no trace” practices, horseback ride, white water raft, backpack, sleep under the stars and have fun sitting by the campfire with new friends! Spend days working with girls, aiding staff in program areas, leading songs and games, and helping with cookouts. You’ll also hang out with other PA’s and plan some of your own activities. You can register for only one session as a PA due to the limited space in the program (no buddies accepted). Girls must have had PA training and experience as a PA at a Girl Scout camp.

Do you love science fiction, fantasy and Victorian styles? Participants will be working with leather, metal, felt, fabric, grunge board, gears, and much more. You will learn how to use grommets, metal bending/shaping tools, riveting, soldering, chemical imprinting, and more. Design wardrobe pieces to complete your steampunk outfit, all in a Victorian Era meets Modern Technology camp.

Rapunzel, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, The Frog Prince, which is your favorite? We’ll have story time with your favorites as well as some lesser known tales, including creating your own fairy tale! Dress up like your favorite characters and make fairy wings and magic wands too!. 9 – 3:30.

Try your hand at a variety of crafty arts, including clay, jewelry, papermaking and more. Create treasures to keep and participate in an art show at the end of the week! 9 – 3:30.

See if you can find her! Spend the week travelling to new and exciting places. Try an edible sand pyramid from Egypt or build a tribal mask from Africa. Activities may include Native American beadwork and fairy tales from around the world. 9 – 3:30.

Girl Scouts will work on pre-requirements to earn the Girl Scout aMuse Journey for the Jounior Bronze Award and then plan 6 recruitment events for K - 1st graders in the months of August and September.

This Tea Party will be delightful fun. The Secret Garden Tea Room provides beautiful dress up clothes, and girls will explore the world of dance, poetry and music.  Also girls will learn about the history and art of etiquette, and the event will end with tea.

Join the Girl Scouts of Colorado while we learn the art of photography and techniques used by pro photographers. Girls will learn how to take landscape, portrait, artistic, motion pictures, and will make a nifty photo frame to display their favorite picture. Having a camera will be required (preferably digital). Snack will be provided.

Locations will vary around Grand Junction and will be anounced upon registration.

The camp is Monday through Thursday from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm

Calling all outdoor gals! Join us and the wonderful staff of the Nature and Raptor Center of Pueblo, as we get wild in the outdoors. Girls will explore the local wildlife, learn about our ecosystem and see nature’s beauty. We also will have a special evening event for girls and their families to enjoy on our final day.

If you love water, this is the camp for you! While there is no swimming at this camp, be sure to bring your swimsuit because you will get wet! We’ll play all sorts of water games, build boats and participate in awesome water-based science experiments.

We are a totally free event – no admission or parking fees charged. We provide a positive atmosphere for the youth of these organizations to bring their projects to be judged and receive awards.  We are primarily a youth event.  The classes offered for Girl Scouts are based on the badges that your organization awards.

Wild Things!

Come join us for five days of wild and crazy fun in the outdoors!  This nature and science camp will have everything from hiking and sun prints to outdoor cooking and natural crafts.  Bring your own lunch on Monday, and we will provide snack and lunch for the rest of the week based on what you and your unit decide.  50% of program will be theme-based and 50% will be girl-planned. 9 –3 p.m.

Program Aide (PA24)

Girls ages 8 and up are invited to join the Girl Scouts of Colorado on a fun filled paddle and saddle adventure! First we will soar down the rapids and then journey to the Porter ranch where we will have dinner and set up camp. The next morning we will enjoy a nice horseback riding session. Dinner, breakfast, and two snacks will be included! Transportation to and from the event will be required. A confirmation letter will be sent with information, directions, wavers and a packing list.

This camp is for upper-intermediate and advanced riders, for example, can tack your own horse without assistance and control the walk and trot. Most of your time will be spent with the horses going on trail rides, horse packout trips and much more. Work with the other girls in your unit to plan your week. Night rides, horse painting and rodeo games are just the beginning!

Do you love fashion and shopping and sometimes ask yourself, where do our things come from? How did they get there? Who made them and can I make something like that? Get those questions and more answered as we investigate the global world of fashion. You will also learn how to redesign your old clothes into something new.

At this sleepover we will watch a Harry Potter movie, eat wizard food, play games, learn bully-prevention, and have fun!

A confirmation letter will be sent to you after you register to give you the details of what you need to bring with you. Snacks and two meals will be provided.

Join us for the time of your life - a campout 100 years in the making!  Come to Tomahawk Ranch to mark the centennial in true Girl Scout style!  You'll get to experience what camping was like in the past and in the present.  Activities could range from flag semaphores and archery to horseback riding and "sky walking" with an iPad.  This is a weekend camping experience for the individual girl and/or troop, as well as adult Girl Scouts and Girl Scout alumnae.

Cost: $100/ per person.  This includes adults coming with a troop.

You will pay the $10 deposit right now, and the resulting $90 will be due by the deadline date of 5/1/2012.

(We strongly prefer that you maintain safety wise ratios with your troops coming up: ie. minimum 2 adults, 1:6 for Brownies, 1:8 for Juniors, 1:10 for Cadettes, and 1:12 for Seniors and Ambassadors.)  If you are a Juliette Girl Scout you can still join in on the fun.  We will have camp counselors available for these girls!

Spend a weekend with your daughter at beautiful Magic Sky Ranch near Red Feather Lakes. Bring your personal gear and camping equipment, including a tent, and we will provide the food and fun! The program includes campfires, cookouts, crafts, outdoor activities, songs and games. It is designed for one adult and one child.  Please register another adult if you are bringing more than one daughter. No tagalong children please.

This camp is located in the lower portion of Magic Sky, which is designed for tent camping only, and there is no access to the resident camp. There is no running water or shower facilities, and campers may be required to walk a distance of 1/4 mile to the lodge for activities. Come prepared to “rough” it for the weekend. Fill out one Camp Registration Form per couple and one Health Form per person. This camping event is staffed by volunteers. Join us for a weekend you will always remember! Note: Upon request, dome tents can be reserved prior to your arrival at no additional cost.

Celebrate the year of the Olympics! Try out the sports field at Sky High and play volleyball, softball or basketball. Connect with each other on the team-building course. Sports will be your primary activites; however, you’ll have time to try some of the other camp activities your group chooses to do. (This program does not include a horseback ride.)

Campers will get an introduction into basic skills of horseback riding at a walk and a chance to become comfortable around horses. No experience necessary.

This is for the beginning paddler. Conquer Upper Pond in preparation for a trip to Manitou Lake after an overnight camp experience away from the main camp. Other camp activities will be available. Campers must have written verification of swimming ability (swim 100 yards and tread water for 60 seconds) through Red Cross or equivalent organization. (This program does not include a horseback ride)

Join us as we check out the back trails and bike paths around camp on a “Diggler” (camper-powered skateboard with wheels, handlebars and brakes). Learn about bicycle safety and care. Practice your skills in our "new" Diggler Park! . You'll be "diggling" everywhere. Other camp activities are included. Long pants are required. (This program does not include a horseback ride.)

Explore your inner and outer GIRL POWER! Learn self-defense, relax with yoga and take a hike to Inspiration Point or Crash Landing. Challenge yourself at the team building course and zip line. Work with your counselors to plan your camp activities and do some chillaxin’ with your new camp friends. (This program does not include a horseback ride.)

Campers will learn how to trot, post a trot. Riding time is dependent on weather, rider’s comfort level and ability. This is a complete camping program perfect for all ages. Campers will try horseback riding, visit the barnyard, cook outdoor meals, participate in all-camp programs, create camp crafts, dabble in sports, hike and plan their own exciting camping adventures.

Campers will get an introduction into basic skills of horseback riding at a walk and get the chance to become comfortable around horses. This is an introductory beginner camp. No experience necessary.

This program is for the beginning rider. Instruction at the barn includes beginning riding skills, parts of a horse and parts of the saddle, learning control of the horse, basic grooming and saddling. No experience necessary.

Join us for a trip into Pike National Forest! Cook meals, sleep under the stars and get up-close with the nature of Colorado. Learn skills necessary for the trip and then set off, carrying backpacks and food (provided by Tomahawk). This is an excellent beginner backpacker experience. Campers must have some outdoor camping and hiking experience. (This program does not include a horseback ride.)

Spend days working with girls, aiding staff in program areas, leading songs and games, and helping with cookouts. You’ll also hang out with other PA’s and plan some of your own activities. You can register for only one session as a PA due to the limited space in the program (no buddies accepted). Girls must have had PA training and experience as a PA at a Girl Scout camp.

Denver Council Shop will be closed for inventory July 30th & 31st.

Spend your time monkeying around like animals! Travel the globe while exploring jungles and deserts. What kind of crazy animals can you come up with? Can you create your own menagerie? 9 – 3:30.

Learn the lifetime art of sewing! Campers will complete two projects in class. Make It Sew’s instructor will teach campers the basics, and they’ll have the skills and the pattern book to continue after camp. 10 – 4.
