What is your birthstone? What make a diamond sparkle? Get the answers and learn about the tools and techniques used in making jewelry. Then design and make your own hand stamped metal necklace and found object jewelry. Two dates are available - March 29th (RSVP by March 15th) & April 5th (RSVP by March 22nd).

The program is run by Conny Karman, a self taught jewelry artist, a troop leader, and a founder of IDEA It Lab. Girls will have the opportunity to learn the tools and technique used to make jewelry and make 2 projects; a hand stamped metal jewelry and a found object jewelry from common materials like shells, twigs, pebbles, beads, etc. Instructor will provide materials and tools needed. Please bring hammers if you have one. For safety reason, please wear closed toe shoes and tie back shoulder length hair. Cost is $17/girl. Parent helpers are free up to the ratio, $10 for additional adults. Limit 15 girls/program.

Activities will include:

Paper Towers: This is a fun engineering activity that promotes creativity, teamwork and skill. Girls must build a tower out of paper that can support a ball or books and a wind storm!

Food Chemistry: Girls will do a variety of different experiments to explore the science of food, including some edible ones.

Rockets: During this sessions, girls will practice loading and launching an Alka Seltzer rocket and see what conditions will optimize the height of the launch.

Chemical Magic Show: The workshop closes with a fantastic magic show put on by members of the USAFA Department of Chemistry.

Snacks will be provided.

Due to the limited space of the AFA labs, the girl-adult ration for this event is 1 adult for every 5 girls attending.

Girls will determine the difference between “needs” and “wants,” then they will discuss advertising techniques and how ads affect the decisions they make. Troop members will also make a time capsule about what they think they will purchase as adults, which they can open in 10 years.

This exciting event will be held at Young Americans Center’s Headquarters location: 3550 E. 1st Ave., Denver, CO 80206. The class will go from 10:00-12:00 on Saturday, April 12th. The cost is $10 per girl and includes the badges for troop leaders to distribute.

Paper Towers: This is a fun engineering activity that promotes creativity, teamwork and skill. Girls must build a tower out of paper that can support a ball or books and a wind storm!

Food Chemistry: Girls will do a variety of different experiments to explore the science of food, including some edible ones.

Rockets: During this sessions, girls will practice loading and launching an Alka Seltzer rocket and see what conditions will optimize the height of the launch.

Chemical Magic Show: The workshop closes with a fantastic magic show put on by members of the USAFA Department of Chemistry.

Snacks will be provided.

Due to the limited space of the AFA labs, the girl-adult ration for this event is 1 adult for every 5 girls attending.

This is the first year that this event is open to Girl Scouts!  Cadettes taking part in this event can earn their Trees badge while other Girl Scout levels can complete a make your own badge (badges to be acquired by the girl on their own through the council shop).

Join us for a potluck dessert celebration to honor A-MAZE-ing Girl Scouts in the Northern Colorado area who have earned their Bronze, Silver, or Gold Awards in the past year. Share the service project you or your troop provided the community, honor an Awardee, or learn more about the A-MAZE-ing endeavors these girls have completed to earn their awards. Bring younger Girl Scouts so they can see the A-MAZE-ing possibilities that await them as older Girl Scouts - because A-MAZE-ing Girls do A-MAZE-ing Things! Please bring a dessert item to share!

Girl Scout Overnights- Wild Camp-In at The Wildlife Experience

Camp # 3 will focus on Earth Science and Stem.

Our series is designed to inspire environmental stewardship through a combination of Girl Scout program and Keystone Science School curriculum.  All camps will provide background for girls to work on a Journey, earn Girl Scout program badges, implement environmentally based take action projects, and participate in Highest Awards.

Our series is supported in part by the Climax-Area (CO) Community Investment Fund for Eagle, Lake and Chaffee County Girl Scouts (fee info listed is for all weekend for E-L-C girls). Camp is also available without grant funding at full price to all Girl Scouts and available upon request. Fee information and curriculum will be forwarded by email. We will offer evening campfires and astronomy sessions in the school's observatory!  A Daisy Day Camp will be offered on Saturday, fee to be determined.
