Centennial Star Service Unit announces our 3rd annual Pumpkin Palooza Fundraiser at Flat Acres Farm in Parker, CO.

Flat Acres Farm boasts a corn maze, hay bale maze, 600 ft. snake tunnel, duck races, petting zoo, corn kernel boxes, giant jenga, tractor pulled hay rides and inflatable bounce houses and more!

To participate, each girl needs only to mail in her tax-deductible donation in as large an amount her family can afford. The donation will enable the girl and her family to enjoy the included activities at the farm for the group rate of $11.00 per person! Pumpkins from the patch, pumpkin shoot, hamster balls and concessions are not included.

The $11.00 per person is only available to those who mail in or drop-off a tax-deductible donation to Centennial Star Service Unit
by the deadline of Monday September 30, 2013. See form here.

Upon arrival, please check in at the Girl Scout table and pay for admission by cash or check. Each person will receive a hand stamp allowing entrance into the event. Each Girl Scout attending will receive a fun patch!

All donations, regardless of amount are appreciated! Our Service Unit Goal is $2,000!

In Power Up girls learn...

  • The Good, the Bad, the Ugly Know what makes a good friend and how to handle it when friendships get ugly
  • Change Your World! Figure out what roles are played in girl dramas and how you can be more than a bystander when girls are teased or left out.

Girl Scouts will be split most of the day by age group so that we can have age appropriate discussions.

We will also be offering a mini adult session where adult will learn how to help their girls be Powered Up.

Girls will receive the Power Up Patch!

Activities will include:

  • Paper Towers - This is a fun engineering activity that promotes creativity, teamwork and skil. Girls must build a tower out of paper that can support a ball or books and a wind storm!
  • Food Chemistry - Girls will do a variety of different experiments to explore the science of food, including some edible ones.
  • Rockets - During this sessions, girls will practice loading and launching an Alka Seltzer rocket and see what conditions will optimize the height of the launch.
  • Chemical Magic Show - The workshop closes with a fantastic magic show put on by members of ths USAFA Department of Chemistry.


Due to the limited space of the AFA labs, the girl-adult ration for this event is 1 adult for every 5 girls attending.

Power Up is Girl Scouts of Colorado’s bullying prevention program focused on the kind of bullying that girls do most: excluding, ignoring, gossiping, and drama.

In Power Up girls learn...

  • Who Has the Power? Understand the role power plays in friendships and how to use that power for good
  • The Good, the Bad, the Ugly  Know what makes a good friend and how to handle it when friendships get ugly
  • Change Your World! Figure out what roles are played in girl dramas and how you can be more than a bystander when girls are teased or left out.

Girl Scouts will be split most of the day by age group so that we can have age appropriate discussions.

We will also be offering a mini adult session where adults will learn how to help their girls be Powered Up.

Girls will receive the Power Up Patch!

Environmental Camp
Day 1 - Wild and Wacky Weather: learn about your local weather, micro-climates of Colorado, why snow is so important to your county, and how to predict the weather! Create a weather station log and check the weather daily from the school’s weather station.

Day 2 - Friends of the Forest: forest health and wildfire ecology including what makes a forest healthy, tree identification, understanding the pros and cons of forest fires, and learning about the mountain pine beetle and their effect on the forests around you.

Evening campfires and astronomy session in the school’s observatory.

This camp is supported in part by funding from a grant from Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold Foundation (Climax Mine) and offered to Lake, Chaffee, and Eagle County Girl Scouts.  Camp fee information will be shared in an emailed flyer.
