Ethical just got fabulous! Savvy Shopper gives girls the opportunity to explore the global fashion industry as well as looking at the real costs of our consumption. Through hands on, fun and interactive activities girls will learn about wants vs. needs,  where our things come from, fair trade as well as finding ways to consume more responsibly.

goal setting, decision making, money management, people skills, and business ethics. Troops and particpants will work together to present a business plan for their cookie sales.

This event will take place in Pagosa Springs.

This course prepares adults to partner with girls in planning and preparing for outdoor cooking, fire building (in-door and out) and overnight camping.  Prerequisite: Overnight Trips

Get a great start on leading your troop in this practical, how-to workshop on the fundamentals of being a Girl Scout leader. Topics include how to start your troop, field trips, finances, and much more. (This class is required for new troop volunteers.)

Learn to work with your girls to plan and take trips beyond the regular troop meeting. This course covers outings from an overnight at the leader’s house to two-night indoor overnights with no fires or outdoor cooking and should be taken prior to planning a trip.
No pre-requisites.

Required for any trip that is 3 or more nights. This training is for adult trip advisers and Junior Girl Scouts and above who are going to plan and attend the trip.

The It’s Your World-Change it Journey series program offered this fall in Colorado will give girls an inside look into International Human Rights, opening their eyes and hearts to the lives of girls worldwide. With the help of mentors who will meet with the girls, they will gain the skills needed to advocate for an issue that particularly compels them in a final Take Action Project. This could lead to their Gold Award.

Girls will meet twice a month for three months: Dates will be 11-4, 11-18, 12-2, 12-16, 1-6, 1-20

Topics include how to start your troop, field trips, finances, and much more. (This class is required for new troop volunteers.)

Girl Scouts will be collecting new or gently used, mittens, gloves, hats, scarves, or coats. Troops may also bring canned food or new books. After caroling together, troops are encouraged to carol throughout the mall. This event will include a Seek and Find Activity with a special festive prize. All troops are invited to attend this event! The Pines Unit is hosting their 6th annual Mystery Dinner.
Girls will enjoy this 3 course dinner while trying to decipher the menu.  The entire meal consists of 12 items, 1 fork, 1 napkin, 1 toothpick, 1 drink, 8 food items.  Each course has 4 items.  At the end of each course everything on the table goes away before the next course arrives.  This is a fun messy way to celebrate the holiday season with your sister scouts.  Girls will also have the opportunity to complete a craft and exchange gifts if the troop so desires.

Girls will learn the basics of being a PA including working with girls and adults, age characteristics of different program levels, as well as program planning and coordination.

The Camp Specialty is for girls interested in being PAs at camp and covers Outdoor Skills including cooking, fire building, and knife safety.

This training is a two-night overnight and will include other activities as well.  Other activities may include; hiking/snow games (weather allowing), crafts, farm tour, campfire, etc. Girls will have the opportunity to mix training with good old fashion camp fun!

Girls must have completed their Leader In Action award before they can register for this program.

After this training, girls will need to complete six activity sessions (PA internship) to complete their training and earn their pin.

Adults are encouraged (but not required) to attend.  The cost is free and you may be asked to help lead sections of the training if applicable/experienced.  I.e. Outdoor Cooking, Knife Safety, intro to GSUSA Journeys, etc.  Adult training including “overnights” is a plus.

Minimum of 5 adult volunteers required to run this event.

This is an 8-hour course to prepare volunteers and staff to become Adult Trainers for GSCO.  In order to become a Girl Scouts of Colorado trainer, you will need:
1. a completed volunteer application
2. two training references
3. a completed background check (Current leaders should have this on file)
4. schedule an interview with Marueen Lienau or Melissa Erickson (see contact information below), prior to attending this event.

By the end of the training session, participants will be able to describe at least 5 basic skills and have the knowledge needed to facilitate adult learning.  The content will cover:
.       Definitions of Adult Learning
.       Roles and responsibilities of a Trainer
.       Traits of a Successful Trainer
.       How adults and groups learn
.       Learning Preferences
.       A sample of one GSCO Training design
.       Managing group and individual behaviors
.       "Must Dos" for a Trainer

Join us as we sing carols, hand out gifts and do crafts at the senior center.

This event is the culmination of the Giving Tree community service activity in the Pikes Peak region. Girl Scouts and their families can help by purchasing gifts, making cards, helping to sort presents, and/or distributing on the day of the event. Stay at Tomahawk Ranch for 3 days and 2 nights, in a recently renovated cabin with your family and, if you choose, your friends. The cabins are equipped with rooms with bunks, heating, electricity, bathroom facilities, full kitchens and living rooms.

We schedule many activities that are age specific and emphasize individual or family participation. Join in, or just take it easy and stay warm with some hot cocoa by the fireside.
