Learning Objectives
• Describe the difference between wilderness first aid and standard first aid
• Describe the importance of immediately establishing control of the scene and starting the primary assessment and secondary assessment
• Demonstrate a field assessment for all types of injuries and when to evacuate
• Describe the contents of an adequate wilderness and remote first aid kit, and its uses
2-year certificate awarded upon completion of this course
Pre-requisite of CPR certifcation
8 hours of homework completed before attending course
This course is necessary for all adult volunteers taking their troops 30 minutes or more from an Emergency Medical Service.To provide individuals a foundation of first aid principles and skills to be able to respond to emergencies and give care in areas that do not have immediate emergency medical services (EMS) response.
