Day 1 - Wild and Wacky Weather: learn about your local weather, micro-climates of Colorado, why snow is so important to your county, and how to predict the weather! Create a weather station log and check the weather daily from the school’s weather station.
Day 2 - Friends of the Forest: forest health and wildfire ecology including what makes a forest healthy, tree identification, understanding the pros and cons of forest fires, and learning about the mountain pine beetle and their effect on the forests around you.
Evening campfires and astronomy session in the school’s observatory.
This camp is supported in part by funding from a grant from Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold Foundation (Climax Mine) and offered to Lake, Chaffee, and Eagle County Girl Scouts. Camp fee information will be shared in an emailed flyer.
