Hometown Heroes & Gift of Caring
The Hometown Heroes (HTH) Program gives girls the opportunity to learn philanthropy and community service through the Cookie Program. Customers who do not want to buy cookies for themselves may purchase HTH packages to give to others while supporting Girl Scouts at the same time.
Girls choose a group to receive donated cookies. Recipients can be heroes in the community such as non-profit organizations, shelters, firefighters, the military, blood banks, area hospitals or local food banks. Troops must get approval from an organization prior to collecting cookie donations. All arrangements for delivering the cookies is a troop’s responsibility.
Gift of Caring
Through the Gift of Caring project, customers can purchase virtual packages of cookies that GSCO will deliver to the military on behalf of troops. The girls collect the money, but do not physically receive the GOC cookies, and they do not come out of your troop inventory. Troops receive proceeds for GOC packages, just like all other cookies sold, and girls receive credit toward recognitions.
