2013 Milk & Cookies Events

Longmont:  January 27 at Longmont Elks Lodge

Wray:  March 2 at the Wray Roundhouse

We are planning a third event in Estes Park for fall 2013.  Stay tuned for more details.

Did you know?

Ninety-nine percent of your body’s calcium is stored in bones and teeth; the other one percent is in blood and soft tissues.  Calcium is a mineral that helps build bones and teeth and is especially important for growth.

Milk & Cookies

Girl Scouts of Colorado partnered with Western Dairy Association on this exciting venture in 2012.  The event serves to raise money for Girl Scouts, while also providing children and their families a fun and tasty experience—enjoying Girl Scout cookies with dairy products such as milk, yogurt, and ice cream, all of which are provided by Meadow Gold.  The event also features hands-on informational stations and games, which enable participants to learn and get excited about calcium, bone health, and proper nutrition.  Milk & Cookies is geared toward girls and boys and adults of all ages.

Bake Off!

This year’s event in Longmont had the added excitement of a Parent/Daughter Bake Off where Girl Scouts and parents worked to incorporate Girl Scout cookies into their own unique creations—allowing event attendees to enjoy these sample “bites”.  Local community leaders were on hand to judge the cookie creations.  This year’s judges included Chuck Allen, Executive Vice President of Guarantee Bank & Trust and his wife, Bonnie; Eric Hozempa, Executive Director of the Longmont Community Foundation; and Dennis Coombs, Mayor of Longmont.

What to expect?

What started out as a simple idea to host a series of receptions with milk and Girl Scout cookies, has blossomed into a fun and unique  programming event featuring tasty treats and hands-on information stations and games.   Activity stations include:  Dairy Then & Now, From the Farm to the Table, Calcium Facts, Think Your Drink, Nutrition IQ, Mr. Bottle Bones, Get Fit, and Make Your Own Butter.  Food tables provide a variety of dairy products:  Milk & Cookies (cookies paired with white, chocolate, and strawberry milk), Yogurt & Fruit (fresh berries with strawberry, blueberry, peach, raspberry, and strawberry/banana yogurts), Sour Cream & Veggies (vegetables with French onion, green chili, jalapeno, and ranch sour creams), and Ice Cream & Cookies (our most popular booth where children select favorite cookies to smash and sprinkle over vanilla or chocolate ice cream).

Thank you to our sponsors and financial supporters!

Milk & Cookies is a free event!  Corporate and community sponsorships make this possible.
